Two Popular Celebrity Hairstyles and How to Achieve the Look at Home

Many times you see a celebrity and you wonder how they got their hair to look so good. Well, most celebrities do have personal hair stylists that will do their hair for big events. They also usually go to the salon almost every week to have their hair updated and styled. The average person can not afford a personal hair stylist or to go to the salon every week. But, there are ways that you can have hair just as beautiful as some of the celebrities. It may just take some practice and the right styling products. Here are two popular celebrity hairstyles that can be seen on several different women in Hollywood and the directions on how you can achieve the look at home.Tousled WavesTousled waves are is a hugely popular hairstyle with celebrities right now. There are tons of women who are sporting waves in their hair, such as Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Blake Lively, and Jessica Simpson. The trick to getting tousled waves like celebrities is to not have frizzy hair, but not look like you have a bottle of product on your hair. The hair should still move freely and be sexy.Ideally, your hair should be at least shoulder length or longer to get the tousled waves look. While hair is slightly damp, apply a wave enhancing cream or gel to the only the strands of the hair.

Do not apply to the roots. Twirl small sections of your hair around your finger to set in the waves. Do not fuss too much with the hair or it will get frizzy. Also, make sure that after you wash your hair, you do not rub your hair dry with a towel. You only want to blot it with the towel, as rubbing it will make for fly-aways and frizzy hair.Low Side PonytailSuch celebrities as Lauren Conrad and Taylor Swift has been seen wearing their hair in low side ponytails. This celebrity hairstyle is one for the younger crowd. If you are 50 and sporting a low side ponytail it may look inappropriate on you. This hairstyle will work on most lengths of hair, as long as it is long enough to gather in a ponytail on one side of your head. It's a great way to dress up a ponytail a little bit. Part your hair on one side of you head. Pull back all of your hair, keeping the part in tact in front of your head. Do not pull back bangs if you have them, as they should be swept to the side with the part. Secure the hair in a low ponytail that sits on your neck. You can either put the ponytail as the same side as the part or the opposite side of the part. Make sure not to have the ponytail too high, as you may look like you are from the 80's or look like a 5 year old girl. You can flat iron your hair for a sleek ponytail or curl the ends for a more elegant look. By Tiffany B

Most Irritating New Trends in Celebrity Hairstyles

Ever since I heard women were walking into their nearest beauty salon requesting "The Rachel" because of Jennifer Aniston's character on the hit sitcom "Friends," I've been somewhat conscious of new trends in celebrity hairstyles. Some are interesting, some are dull. Some celebrities try to bring back classics, others attempt to blaze trails. Some are difficult to look at. And some are just downright irritating. Here are the most irritating new trends in celebrity hairstyles.1. Men dying their hair. Okay, it is perfectly fine if producers ask you to do it for a movie role. Owen Wilson recently dyed his famous blonde locks dark for a role in the new Wes Anderson movie, The Darjeeling Limited. And women, well, that's their prerogative. Jessica Simpson looks just as enticing as a brunette as she does as a blonde. The same goes for Charlize Theron. It's just more socially acceptable. But, come on, Brad Pitt. At the start of the Brangelina fiasco, Brad Pitt was on the cover of People magazine with a new hair color each week. One issue it was dark, the next was a blinding blonde. If you are having trouble finding yourself, look inside. Don't dye or bleach your bloody hair.

2. Women shaving their head bald. Demi Moore did it once for a movie role. Remember G.I. Jane? Then, more recently, Natalie Portman shaved her head bald for her role in V for Vendetta. A tragedy, yes, but if you must, you must. But now Britney Spears has shaved her head bald, if for no other reason than because she's gone bonkers. Come on, Britney. Fellow celebrities Lindsay Lohan, Tara Reid, and Paris Hilton have all gone nuts at one time or another, and none of them have shaved their heads. Now, that is going to be one irritating new trend in celebrity hairstyles. Ladies, calm down, step away from the clippers...3. Speaking of crazy, if you are a celebrity who is going to spend a night of utter debauchery before driving yourself around New York City or California, at least have the decency to fix your hair before getting arrested. Like Mel Gibson. Fine, so Mel went a bit batshit after his drunk driving arrest, threatening an officer and blaming the Jews for all the wars of the world. But at least he looked presentable in his mugshot. Nick Nolte and Rip Torn can learn an important lesson from good old Mel. Remember, if you are a celebrity, your mugshot will likely be discovered by The Smoking Gun in a matter of minutes. And that virtual rag, TMZ, will quickly follow suit. And they'll make up a few stories to go along with it. So, fix your hair before your mugshot is taken. Please. Get Celebrity Hairstyles for Less

Hot hair looks seen on celebrities in 2007 include short hair, the bob, and waves. Of course there are celebrities who are still modeling classic hairstyles as well. Two classic hairstyles that are still hot with celebrities this year are the sleek ponytail and long, straight hair. You don't have to be a celebrity to have star quality hair. Here are five celebrity hairstyles by Hair Stylist to the stars, Ken Paves, the celebrities who wear them, and tips for getting red carpet hair on a throw rug budget. According to Ken Paves, Ashley Simpson had her hair bobbed by him for the Broadway production, "Chicago." Ken Paves gave her a sharp and chic precision bob. The bob is one of the season's hottest hairstyles. Ashley paid hundreds of dollars to have her hair cut and styled by Ken Paves, but you or I may not be able to afford to give this much of our hard earned cash to a celebrity hairstylist. How can you get the same look for less? Head to Wal-Mart, believe it or not, you can go to your nearest SmartStyle hair salon and get a great haircut for less than $20.

Ask which stylist is the best at doing precision haircuts. The stylists are always extremely helpful and I was thrilled with the bob that I got for such a low price. SmartStyle hair salon also offers a full line of hair care products. For styling a sleek, smooth bob, you need to use a good smoothing serum. TIGI has a product called Control Freak Frizz Control and Straightener that will sleek and smooth your new bob as well as a celebrity endorsed hair product, but without busting your budget. This product can be bought at SmartStyle for less than $12.00. Jessica Simpson works with Ken Paves on marketing a lot of different hair products. He also styles her hair in the hot styles that we all admire. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for an appointment at Paves' Salon, you can go to a local community college and have your hair cut and styled using the most current techniques that are being taught to the cosmetology students. You can Jessica's shoulder length loosely waved style for under $20. If you want the color to go with the style, try Garnier Nutrisse #65, Summer Berry, for the hot red waves Jessica sported at the ALMA Awards. You can find Garnier Hair Color at most retailers for under $10, a fraction of what it costs to have a celebrity stylist color your hair. Eva Longoria recently revamped her look by going for one of the season's hottest trends in hair. On November 15, 2007, Eva wore her hair in a long, sleek style. Instead of paying Paves hundreds of dollars for this look, you can use Fr?d?ric Fekkai Coiff Controle - Ironless Straightening Balm ($23) to blow dry your hair with a large, round brush. Finish off the smooth look by running a few drops of Barex Class Cristalline ($27) through your hair. You can purchase these products at Amazon. Katie Holmes recently cut her hair in a trendy, short style that had everyone envious. She cut over 9 inches from her chestnut hair to get the stylish, chin length short style that everyone is talking about. To get the same look for a lot less money, you can go to SmartStyle Salon and ask them to cut your hair to a chin level length and then add soft layers around the mid-lengths and ends to lighten up the weight and create a flexible shape. This style is easy to maintain, just wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo like Body Full Shampoo (SmartStyle for about $12) and blow dry using a round brush, lifting the roots. The key to this style is light, bouncy hair with great volume. Jennifer Lopez knows how to look great in a sleek ponytail thanks to the hundreds of dollars she pays stylist Ken Paves to pull back her hair. You can have a sexy ponytail that you style all by yourself for just a few pennies worth of product each time. Pull your hair back after brushing and applying a styling cream like Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream with Pure Olive Oil (around $20 on Amazon.com). Secure your hair in a low pony with a pretty hair tie and you can have exactly the same look as J-Lo for a fraction of the price. By Jeni Senter
